Lovely violet/lavender patina blankets satiny cart wheel luster of this pretty gem. Originally issued as a means of trade in the Orient, these issues were never intended for use on United States soil. Due to it’s lack of acceptance in contrast to other silver coins in the world trade arena of it’s day, the trade dollar saw limited demand by the public but has become a favorite of type coin collectors of US coins. The original mintage for proofs in 1875 was only 700 and this example has the Type II Reverse. $17,250
